On August 28th, 2017, the quiet tranquility of the Clovis Carver Public Library in New Mexico was shattered by a hail of gunfire. In mere seconds, the Sanctuary of Knowledge became a scene of unspeakable carnage as patrons fled in terror.

The day began like any other in the town of Clovis. The library bustled with its usual mix of students, families, and bookworms, seeking refuge among the shelves. But at 4:15 p.m., a young teen walked through the front doors.

The lone figure dressed in black entered the restroom. Inside, he uploaded a chilling photo to social media, showing his father’s guns and ammunition nestled in a camera bag. The caption read, ‘It begins’.

Moments later, the shooter emerged from the restroom and pulled out a .380 caliber handgun. In a six-second frenzy of violence, he fired fourteen rounds indiscriminately into the crowd. Bodies crumpled to the floor as blood sprayed across book covers.

Children screamed in terror as their parents desperately tried to shield them. Two library employees, 61-year-old Wanda Walters and 48-year-old Chrissie Carter, lay dead.
