Man Forgets He Dismembered His Friend and Tries to Turn Himself In
In July 2012, a group of students discovered a human torso in a trash bag on South Sea Beach in Hampshire, England. Scattered in two other locations along the beach were additional remains, including a man’s legs and pelvis.
The body was identified as 30-year-old David Guy, but the circumstances of his death remained unclear, likely because the rest of his body was never found.
Markings on his torso suggested he had been stabbed in the chest. The time of death was also unclear, but investigators managed to narrow it down to between June 30th and July 3rd.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a man riding a bike near the locations where parts of Guy’s body were found. They recognized him as David Hilder, a local scrap metal dealer and a neighbor and friend of Guy.
Police immediately turned to him as a person of interest.
On July 5th, shortly after the estimated time of Guy’s death, Hilder had shown up at the Shoreham Police Station.
However, the station was closed. So, Hilder called an operator and said,
“I would like to speak to someone. I think I’ve done something serious. This morning, I found a lot of empty Nurofen wrappers in my pocket.”
Nurofen is a different brand name for ibuprofen.
