On June 11th, 2021, 38-year-old self-proclaimed spiritual healer, Jemma Mitchell wheeled a suitcase around London, every step being captured on CCTV footage. Little did she know, it would be this very footage that would lead to her undoing.
She walked with an empty suitcase to her friend, 67-year-old Mee Kuen Chong’s home. Chong was also known as Deborah, and the pair had formed a close bond through their love of God after meeting at church.
Chong believed that Jemma was healing her, and had completely put her faith in her abilities. But on that fateful day, Jemma was going to do much more than try and heal Chong.
Jemma Mitchell was born on July 22nd, 1984, in Australia. She grew up under the care of her mother, who worked for the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Australia. After her parents’ marriage ended, Mitchell moved to the UK with her mother and sister.
Chong, who had lived in London for 30 years, suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and was on antipsychotic medication. Despite her mental health struggles, Chong believed that Mitchell was curing her illness through spiritual healing.
